AI & LLM application penetration testing

An AI and LLM penetration test checks whether your chatbot, RAG assistant or AI agent can be pushed into leaking data, ignoring its rules or taking actions it should not. Mr Cyber tests the model integration, its data access and its tools against the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications, by hand, at a fixed price.

How we test AI and LLM applications

This page is about testing your own AI application. For a pentest run by AI agents against your systems, see our separate AI-assisted pentest.

We start with what your AI feature is allowed to see and do: which data it can read, which tools it can call and who can talk to it. Then we test each of these by hand, with the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications as the checklist.

Focus on data and actions

A wrong answer is a quality problem. An assistant that shows one customer another customer’s documents, or an agent that sends an email nobody approved, is a security problem. We spend the budget where your business risk is.

Critical findings don’t wait for the report

If we find something critical during testing, you hear from us the same day, with enough detail for your team to start fixing.

Reproducible results

Every finding includes the input that triggers it, so your team can check the fix. Scoring uses CVSS 3.1 (4.0 on request) plus a business-risk rating.

What you get

  • Executive summary for management, auditors and your AI team
  • Every finding with the conversation or request that triggers it, evidence and fix guidance
  • Findings mapped to the OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications
  • CVSS 3.1 scoring plus business-risk rating and remediation priorities
  • Debrief call with your developers
  • Free retest and updated report

Always included

  • Free retest within 60 days
  • Debrief call with your team
  • NDA, DPA and testing authorisation with the offer
  • Critical findings reported the same day
  • Testing stops at any time on your call
  • Audit-ready report (PDF)
  • Ready-to-import tickets for Jira, ServiceNow, GitLab, Azure DevOps and GitHub
  • Email import for helpdesks like OTRS/Znuny, Zammad, TOPdesk and Matrix42

Internal AI assistant hands any employee the salary list

assist.admin-soehne.example · internal AI assistant with file share search

CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:N/A:N

Description

The new assistant answers questions from the company’s file shares. It searches with its own broad access, not with the employee’s rights. So a simple question such as “what does the head of sales earn?” returns content from the HR salary file, which the same employee cannot open directly.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Log in to the assistant with a normal employee test account without HR rights.
  2. Ask about the salary of a named test person.
  3. The assistant quotes from the HR salary file that the test account cannot open on its own.
Test account: sales assistant (no HR rights)
Opening the HR folder directly → access denied
Assistant answer → quotes from "HR/Gehaelter_2026.xlsx"

Business impact

Salaries, sick notes and contracts of all staff are open to every employee. That is a GDPR breach with health data, reportable within 72 hours, trouble with the works council and lost trust inside the company.

Remediation

Let the assistant search only with the rights of the person asking. Exclude HR, management and legal folders from the index until their permissions are checked. Add test questions from accounts without rights to every release.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an AI or LLM penetration test cost?
Fixed prices start at €2,900 for a chatbot or assistant with one or two roles. Your own data sources (RAG), agents with tools or the surrounding web app add effort. The quote form shows your binding fixed price instantly, and the written offer (PDF) is sent to you by email right after your request.
Which models and platforms do you test?
The test covers your application and how it uses the model. It works the same whether you use a hosted model through an API, a cloud AI service or a model you run yourself.
What do you need from us?
Access to a test environment, test accounts for each role, a short description of the data sources and tools the AI can use, and a contact for emergencies.
Will testing change our data or run up costs?
We agree upfront which actions the AI may take during the test and set a usage limit. Agents that change records are tested in a test environment or with your explicit approval.
Do you also check the web app around the AI feature?
On request. Many findings sit where the AI meets your normal application, so testing both together often gives the clearest picture.
